Camera Talk

It’s a good thing I was shooting with Fuji Acros 100 because I forgot to set the ISO on the camera, and halfway through the roll realized it was two stops too high. Somehow, the film handled it pretty good, and shadow details were not all blocked up from the under exposure.

I have switched labs, sending the stuff out of town now, so it takes a while to get it back and organized for posting. The scans are much better, but there is a water spotting issue I’ll have to discuss with them. On some of the scans it looked like there were photos taken from space of Western Pacific atolls in the corners.

I’m liking the SC Skopar 35/3.5 that came on the camera, with its clamp-on focusing ring, though it does detract from the looks a bit. I still can’t get the hood off the lens, no matter how much torque I use, so filter use is out of the question for now. I realize after shooting with this camera, and the Nikon S2, that I really need to go a little wider at times, but I’m just not sure which focal length to go with (28, 24, or 21mm). I guess it will come down to whatever one I come across first at a decent price.

I also used the Nikkor-P 8.5cm f2 towards the end of the roll, while having to listen to some bystander prattle on about things while I was trying to get the last few shots in.

Very nice, Phil. You are going to enjoy this camera.

I had to look up the body number, because I forgot what the "S" meant. Now, I remember. It referred to the ability to use Nikon S rangefinder lenses.

I like this set. I've always thought the Color-Skopar was an excellent lens. I had the pancake version, and it never disappointed.

The images do not look like there was any exposure problem. Enjoy that camera and the excellent glass!
