Thin negatives, camera or developer?

Hi all,
I developed the first roll off the Vitessa last night. Haven't scanned yet, but the negatives look noticably thin. Film was Acros, rated at 125. Most shots were in bright sun, 1/125 and f/16.
Now, Acros usually has pretty good latitude for me. So I doubt the camera is that far off. BUT, I used old HC-110. I mean, really old. I'm essentially out of developer and found the dregs of the bottle, last used 3 years ago, in the top of the cupboard. Bottle was opened maybe 5 or 6 years ago. Now, I've always heard HC-110 syrup lasts about forever. But is it possible my thin negatives are the result of bad, old, exhausted developer? I was using dilution H at my standard time for Acros.
Thanks,
Scott
