Wild Poppies

Post by GrahamS »

Every year at this time, this wild poppy blooms at the base of my neighbor's garden gate. It's a very persistent poppy.....

Thank heavens that poppy is so persistent! It would be a shame to lose such a beautiful flower. In your shot, I like the fact that the one bloom is sharp and in focus, and the rest of the plant is a bit soft. The single plane of focus, and very subdued lighting, create a beautiful effect.

Best,

Hey, I have those in my tiny front yard! Mine are if anything a bit less orange, more a pure yellow. I call these Welsh poppies - but I don't know where I got that from. I didn't plant them, but I tolerate them (I'll tolerate almost anything that can live under the north-facing shade there), and they're spreading along the street year by year.

Very well done, Graham. Ditto Dennis's comments about focus.

Can't go wrong with orange and green. Lovely shot, Graham.
