Happy 100th Birthday, NIkon!

Post by PFMcFarland »

It’s Nikon’s 100th Birthday!

Here are some photos taken with my S2/w-Nikkor 35mm 1:3.5 on Kodak T-Max 100.

Excellent. That Wabash machine is a great picture too.

I will have to celebrate the 100th aniversary by finishing a roll in my old F, it has been sitting there for months.

Thanks, Julio. I celebrated by pre-ordering one of those half scale F models they had for sale, and today they cancelled the order. Guess they're not selling enough of them to make it worthwhile to go into production.

I think Nikon is having a rough time this year.

Although they've released some good cameras in the past year, some of them are just ho-hum. Then Nikon canceled its line of high-end point and shoots, because the P&S market is pretty much dead because of smartphones.

On top of that, Nikon continues to have problems with the D750 shutter.

The company doesn't have a viable mirrorless system, which is the hot market segment in digital photography.

Finally, there is a rumor that Nikon is looking for outside investors, and the Japanese government is working behind the scenes to ensure that it doesn't fall into the hands of a Chinese, Taiwanese or Korean investor, and the government would like Fujifilm to take a stake in the company.

By the way, that's a really nice Nikon rangefinder collection.
