Anyone else see this in the new policies of Yahoo/Oath?
“We’ve updated some of the ways we collect and analyze user data in order to deliver services, content, relevant advertising and abuse protection.
This includes: analyzing content and information when you use our services (including emails, instant messages, posts, photos, attachments, and other communications), linking your activity on other sites and apps with information we have about you, and providing anonymized and/or aggregated reports to other parties regarding user trends.”
I’m troubled by this and considering dropping my yahoo account. And what does this mean for flickr?

Re: Oath...
It looks to me like they are collecting your navigation, keywords and patterns of use and connection; inferring your preferences, and selling the (hopefully thinly anonymized?) info to digital ad platforms.
At least they are straightforward about it.

If you are using the Firefox browser, you can use their free Ad Blocker. Of course, you'll then come across a lot of news feeds that are now demanding you subscribe before they will let you read the article. I say to heck with them.

Re: Oath...
The new owner of Flickr says their first priority is to get Flickr users off of the Yahoo login and onto Smugmug/Flickr's login. I expect we'll see something there soon.

I imagine we'll get an email with the instructions for switching over to Smugmug. It will involve signing in to the change-over site, then redoing your password, then getting the new URL to go straight to Flicker. Or something like that.
