Nikon F2AS Test

Ah, the Nikon F2AS, the last of the line of F2's, and they saved the best for last.

I used a roll of Ilford Delta 100 I had taken out of another camera that suffered from a stuck shutter, so it was a short test. Lenses were the Nikkor AI 28mm 1:3.5, and the Zoom-Nikkor AIS 35-105mm 1:3.5-5.6.

In shade or cloudy situations I had no problems with the exposures, but when the sun came out, highlights were usually blown out. The lab used the wrong resolution on the scans, and the third party person who does their b&w developing messed up a lot on the five rolls I dropped off, from improper agitation, to spots left on the negatives. Needless to say, I'll be shopping around for another lab.

Well, the contrast given due all these mistakes is very attractive, reminds me to the photos I used to enlarge at the lab years ago.
About the series, the shred I like but the most the one with power cables along the road, hypnotic effect.

Thanks, Alex and Julio. I've just never seen the Delta 100 blow highlights like that. I used to reserve it for my FSU cameras to help them along a bit, but I've found it's more about matching the lens to a body that makes all the difference. I'll keep the next batch of Delta for use on shady days. BTW, even the Acros has the blown highlights problem, so I'm thinking it's a combination of developing, and scanning that were both sub-standard to what I've gotten at other labs.

PF, those are all good subjects that come through well despite the highlights issue; as you say, there's a lot of variables at work.
