The publication, L.A. Weekly, wrote a fairly in-depth piece about the then-ongoing debate over shooting movies on film vs. digital.

The writer wrote how many directors preferred the look of shooting on 35mm film, but studios were pushing hard for them to "go digital" to save money.

Batman director Christopher Nolan went so far as to gather fellow directors at a meeting to make his plea to continue shooting film.

I wonder how things are today. Possibly, younger directors who don't feel they have enough clout in the industry are told to shoot digital.

The article also addresses the issue of a movie's distribution and how movies are shipped digitally and no longer as reels in a can.
