Out on the Web

It might be good to have an open section where we can post about interesting, or aggravating, things out there on the big wide web.

It comes to my mind because today Flickr carried its astoundingly aggravating "awesomeness" further than it had by closing the opt-out option for users who don't want their new look. Argggh.

End of Flickr vent.

We might put URLs for interesting websites, discuss photo-storage sites, etc. in the new section. And of course discussions of them.

I think all these damned "improvements" are being done by coders and executives who have never used Flickr.

By the way, I have switched my Flickr language (at the bottom of your main Flickr page) to Spanish. That reverts my own view back to the pre-awesome one. I assume that using any other language (than English) will do the same. At least until those coders get to those languages...

Feel free to use the "Off Topic Chatter" forum to vent about whatever happens to be on your mind at the moment.

With regard to Flickr, the parameter-adding trick still works to get the old view of a page. That is, add "?details=1" to the end of your main URL to get the old view. Just in case that's handy to anyone...

Robert, that is good to know. When Flickr made its last Awful Changes, I bookmarked my page as the "Edit" page -- it's the same URL with ?details=1 added at the end. Luckily, I can read most of the Spanish terms but when they change that too, I'll remember to start using the ?details=1 ending more thoroughly. :)

But you have to add that to every page (main, sets, etc.) and you still get all the (lack) of features of the just-improved version. What a bunch of clowns.
