A roll with Canon 7

Glad to see the forum back in line, and thanks Mike for all the effort!
The Canon 7 is my most advanced rangefinder camera, whatever that means. I had this roll going for several months, until a rare sunny day (in our winter) allowed me to finish it. All shots with the 50/1.8 lens.
Empty plastic crate over a lot of catched fish
Looking out of a children's library
Fishing boats, a favorite subject
Guitar player in the park, trying to warm his feet in the sun.
FP4+, processed in Beutler.

Julio - these are really nice. I particularly like your use of shadows. Which lens did you have on the camera?
Canon did such a nice job with its rangefinders. But it's never been a company that looks backward. When it was done with rangefinders, it was really done. Sort of like the Canon breech mount - when it moved on to the EF lenses, it spent no time providing any backward compatibility.

Thanks Mike! The whole roll was shot with the Canon 50/1.8 that came with the Canon 7.
You are right, Canon never looked backwards in their camera development. They just feature past models in their
nice Camera Museum, and move over.

Well, looking back is one thing, sticking with something that is getting old is another. I can just imagine how Nikon agonized over coming up with the S mount for their Z line (though they did make a nod towards their rangefinders by that name selection). But then hardly anyone uses the S moniker when talking about the mount.
Canon certainly made some good cameras there towards the end of the run for rangefinders, culminating in the Canonette 17 QL III. And the lenses were top notch also. I like your choice of developer, Julio, it really brings out the details in your photos. And it's always nice to see new views of the fleet.

Nicely done, Julio. I really like your film development. Great tonality. I remember when the Canon 7 was first released - we had one in the shop with the f0.95 50mm lens. It was a real attraction.

Thanks! I wish I had the 0.95, even if it is for display only!
Alex, your comment made me remember a little Russian boy that was a classmate of my daughter for one year at school. The boy wore shorts and T-shirts all the time, while his classmates were well wrapped in warm clothes.
No big secrets about development, I use home-made Beutler with FP4+. It is a very tolerant combination.
