CPL Filter

Post by RonB »

I am looking to buy a 58mm CPL filter for my EOS D-60 6.3 mp camera with a 28-105 Sigma lens. I see price ranges from almost nothing to ridicules.
Any suggestions ?
Thanks

not every CPLfilter is good. some of the cheaper ones give incorrect colour. in short if you are a pro, then spend the money on a B&W,Kenko, Hoya etc. although if you look around you can often get a bargain in those brands.
a good CPL filter will have the same colour cast on both sides of the filter ,whereas the bargain ones will be grey ish on one side and have a greenish colour cast on the reverse side.
i use cheap to mid range CPL. i have a few High End ones, and the difference to my eye is minimal, in the final image. KEH wil often have good CPL's ay a very good price.
Troll around on Evil bay, often you will be able to score a brand name filter at a very good price. the best filter to date i have found where HAMA filters . very good glass and coatings. but the above mentioned are also very good. in the lower echelon would be the Massa branded ones.cheap and perfectly adequate .
