Two small scratches.

Hi all,

Today I received a very nice preserved Voigtländer Inos II 6.5x11 but its rear lens has two thin scratches and I wanted to know your opinion if these scratches will have any impact on the photo, I have loaded already Verichrome Pan from 1971 which I don’t know how I will develop

The scratches do not seem too bad. You can try some against-the-sun to see what happens.

As for the Verichrome Pan, standard technique would be to pull (i.e. overexpose by one stop and develop for a correspondingly shorter time). I would use D-76 stock or similar.

Verichrome Pan is a very rugged film.

I don't know, looks like light scatterers to me. If they'd been closer to the edge I'd say no problem.

You have to try.... You may see some scattering and softness in the final image

Alex, IMHO the scratches will have no obvious affect on the image. At small apertures, you may see some changes to the character of the bokeh due to scatter.

I tend to think that you might get some additional flare or perhaps some softness.

I guess that you'll need to try it.

If they do scatter badly, you could try darkening them with a thin marker, or even some paint applied with a brush with very few hairs. It works sometimes, though it will change the apertures slightly.
