Just to let you know that I have put together a Blurb book of photos taken with film over a seven year period, As Bare As You Dare, covering the preparations for the annual World Naked Bike Ride in Cardiff, Wales, UK. 100+ pages, with a couple of short introductory texts.

Sandeha, it looks good. I'm looking forward to seeing the whole thing (I just ordered it! )

Was the square format a requirement of Blurb for the book, or did you shoot them all square? If the latter, it must be film. (Even nicer!)

If you didn't shoot square, I'd be interested to know how you went about reframing pictures and how you felt about it. I have, for thirty years toyed with the idea of making a calendar, and it is always matters of landscape vs portrait vs square format that bog me down!

Blurb software is quite intuitive, and works well
I made a book with the pictures I scanned from my grandpa for my cousins and uncles.
They seems to like it.

The photos I have seen in the flkr makes me eager to go next year with a camera and/or my bike

Thanks. You'll find an explanation of my shooting square in the book itself. But the book format was to ensure it would be cheap enough for riders who had taken part - and since Blurb rates are by the number of pages and I didn't want to leave any of these shots out, it turned out to be a higher ticket price than I'd hoped.

I used eight different film cameras over the seven years, and just over half the shots were 6x6.

Sandeha, I just received the book a half-hour ago in the mail. It's a really good-looking book, a wonderful book, not just interesting from a photographic point of view, but with lots of amusing scenes and pictures. I think my favourite may be p 75, your self-portrait in a woman's glasses. But there are many more that compete for favourite.

The square format makes it very personable, too, very portraity and intimate in the sense of being drawn into the people's eyes and varying degrees of (dis)comfort. I can see why you wanted a square format -- a non-square one would have reduced that feeling of being a trusted part of it.

Thanks, Philip ... I couldn't ask for a better review than that.

There are maybe a dozen among them that I think would stand out in any context, quite apart from them being taken at a ride, and this one you mention I have exhibited several times and will again this spring in a local art group exhibition of portraits (paintings, prints, and photos). It's one of the Mamiya Meniscus shots with my C3 and an Agnar rear element, on Fuji ProH 400 shot at 100.

The lady in question is a biologist by trade, and as the guy who does my printing accidentally did two copies I was able to give one to her the following year.
