Mist and Fog

Often simply written as "W/NW" - your favorite photos. Explain them, or let your photos (film or digital) speak for themselves.

Mist and Fog

Post by GrahamS »

These are from an album I have created on Flickr called "Mist and Fog." Both are unpredictable elements in any photography, therefore many good images using them are by chance rather than by design. Exposure is tricky.

Beautiful scenes, beautiful pictures.

They are so calm, they remind me of a man who picked me up hitchhiking about fifty years ago. He was from Britain and working temporarily here in Newfoundland. He told me he missed only a few things from home, but the thing he would never get used to here was the sixty-mile-an-hour fogs.

Beautiful photos, Graham!
Fog is one of the things I can’t try because there’s very few here living on/next to a city.

Alex, I live in the biggest city in the land, and still we have fog. Atmospheric conditions have to be just right. Sometimes we have fog over the entire east coast of England on the same day!

All beautiful, Graham. Hard to pick favorites. Love the rich colors in Riverbank, and the solitary bench in Dawn Mist.

Fog is calm and nice for photography, it helps to sort out subjects. Well done Graham!Image

I wish I had seen these on Saturday, Graham, because it would have inspired me to get my butt out the door on Sunday morning when we had an excellent fog going on. I guess not knowing how my body would react to the rushing around to get equipment ready and then searching for a good spot to photograph put a damper on things.

Thank you, good people, for your kind comments. Phil, any camera will do. I leave my little Fuji X30 by the door....

I've been doing so much moving stuff around I sometimes lose track of what camera is where, and which ones are loaded or have a good battery charge.

You mean you forget what you're doing while you're doing it?
