A six-months roll

A six-months roll

Post by Julio1fer »

With lockdowns, vaccinations, work from home, cataract surgery and recovery, and needing new glasses (not to mention sloth) took me a shameful 6 months to finish a roll of FP4+ in the Nikon F.

Had to prepare a new batch of Beutler, and tried a very old Metol powder. Not optimal, but frames came out on the film.

My favorite haunt, the fishing boats pier, is still closed. And it seems that the Nikon needs a CLA, there is a bit of shutter capping if I am not mistaken.

I don''t think that is shutter "capping", Julio. I have never heard of a Nikon F shutter doing that, even after 30 years of use and no servicing at all. It looks like directional agitation to me (film perforations causing it). However, those are very nice images, considering.

Thanks! Graham, it was a Rondinax tank, therefore no directional agitation. Those dark vertical bands only appear in the faster shutter speeds…I wish it were agitation.

Don't feel bad. I keep putting off getting some film developed, and now it goes back to over a year ago. Good thing I write down what the camera, lens, and locations were. Other than the shutter issue you've still got the touch, Julio!

Thanks PF! This F body has never been serviced, my guess is at least 55 years… even Nikons need it, from century to century.
