Pentax K5 rides again....

I hauled the "old" K5 down to the lakes last week, with the SMC PENTAX-DA 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 AL. It still holds it's own when it has a Pentax-DA AF lens attached. I originally wanted to use it as a M42 workhorse, but it drove me crazy. It would not expose consistently in aperture priority mode, nor in manual mode. The meter read correctly. I've given up the fight! I will look out for an old Canon 5D for M42 work.

These photos made think to come back to digital just for having one just if I have not color film available....
I have two Pentax K lenses that work fine with my LX in Aperture priority mode, they should work as well with this K5?
I found the same setup as Grahams for about USD200, 7000 frames shot and matrix cleaned 2 years ago, is it a good price or should I aim to something newer or other type?

Alex, the K5 is a great camera, but it does not lend itself to using M42 MF lenses with an adaptor. My Pentax K10D had no problems with M42 MF lenses. If I were you I would look for a Canon EOS 5D or 5D II which is full-frame (sensor is 24x36 mm) with a Canon AF 50mm f1.8 USB lens. Used with a M42 adaptor, it works very well with M42 lenses in aperture priority or manual mode, and no matter what focal length lens you use, there will be no conversion factor because of sensor size. Canon EOS 5D's are going here in "excellent" condition for under GBP250.00 See here: https://bit.ly/2XMoHYq

But I haven’t any M42 or Canon lenses.
Probably I don’t understand well this thing of resolutions.

Alex, which two Pentax K lenses do you have? Are they KA or just K. Does the Pentax K5 that you found for USD200 come with an AF kit lens?

They are manual focus, 50mm f/1.2 and 100mm f/2.8
Yes, it brings the same lens as you have.
