Back to the Pentax K-1000

Back to the Pentax K-1000

Post by Julio1fer »

Many years ago I bought new my K-1000, it was my main or only camera for 20+ years. The age shows in the straps!

Recently did a roll in this old favorite, using mostly two lenses, a 24-35 zoom and a 100. Film was FP4+ in Beutler, as usual.

Image

Most of the roll was shot mainly in a (neglected) park area that once was a watermill. Before legalization of marijuana, people met here in large crowds to smoke the weed, quite a show.

There is an old wagon in the place, which every year gets more rusty.

There was a small museum, now closed. The weathered door tells the story.

To end, Cape jasmine buds and flowers - for a few days the city becomes full of them, and their sweet fragance is all around. This one was with the 50mm/2 that came with the K-1000.

Nice series of shots, Julio. I too have a K1000. It is my favourite of all the Pentax K series, including the Spotmatic.

That is one great series of images, Julio, especially the wagon shots. Back in the early 1970s I had a K1000 that was some special edition covered with brown leather. I enjoyed it very much until it was stolen from my car. I got a Pentax MX right after that and still have it somewhere, though it has been idle for many years.

Thanks for the comments!

Yes Alex, that one is from the 100/2.8. It has a smooth rendering of out-of-focus areas. I should use that lens more often!

Julio, the SMC Pentax M 100mm f2.8 is a very sought after lens and is valued highly by collectors.

Thanks Graham for this info, I honestly had no idea that it was a sought after lens, but I like the results. Out of focus areas are very smooth, the lens is sharp and contrast is just right. Will use this one more often, I want to work more with the 100 mm focal distance.
