The 950 was one of the better 2MP cameras when it first hit the market. There were three cameras with this one being the premium model.
It was a very expensive camera, takes four AA batteries an CompactFlash cards.
The image quality was very good and made consumers think about how good digital could be. It had that interesting twisting body (Agfa had one, too), and it was very usable for selfies (although they weren't called "selfies").
Even today, roughly 16 years after it was introduced (which is like 112 years in "real" time - computer years are like dog years), it is still a very usable camera.

Ron,
I love that waterfall shot.
My wife is using a Coolpix P510. The image quality that she gets from that tiny 4.5 x 6 mm sensor continually amazes me. The 42x zoom range is most impressive. It appears that your model of camera has a good successor.
Best,
D

Looking back I believe that I rested the camera on the rock ledge and used the self timer to shoot the falls.
Then played with the marmots for a while.
