Westport, IN Covered Bridge

I was getting towards the end of the roll, and wanted to get one more subject before the skies cut loose. The Westport Covered Bridge always makes a good appearance since its restoration. And this is one of the few remaining that you can actually drive on. It’s on an older section of road that was bypassed when a new curve was put in, mainly to be able to put in a two-lane bridge, and preserve this one for the future, so it doesn’t see a lot of traffic.

Nice, PF. I'd forgotten Indiana had covered bridges (I lived there when I was a youngin'). That one's far more elaborate than the ones we have here locally.

It's one of the more elaborate ones I know of, Scott. I suspect that a little embellishment was used during the restoration, though. I'll have to find my old photos of it.

Rich, from Greensburg you take SR-3 south to Westport, and then a left (East) on CR-1100S. There are signs that point the way to the bridge.

Very nice bridge. On my laptop screen the sky appears very white, a problem I have created on B&W film for myself more than once. I assume you were shooting without a filter...?

Phil,
I meant to ask you last month, have you explored the covered bridges off of US-11 around Mount Jackson and Woodstock, VA? The Biedler bridge, ca. 1888 is in Rockingham County. The other is a bit further north around Mount Jackson. Both appear under "Shenandoah Valley" in this website:

Another Shenandoah Valley event I miss attending is the Battle of Cedar Creek re-enactment, which is also on US-11 near Middletown. This year, it is Oct 18-19.
Autumn in Virginia is usually very nice, I miss it a bit.
Best,
Dennis

Nope. Had an orange one on the lens, Tom. It was about to rain, so the sky is all cloudy. Can't do much with that.
