Sweet Springs, WV Tour

Post by PFMcFarland »

I took a quick tour of Sweet Springs, WV on Argust 14th as the C-3 was finally out of film. That’s why I usually bring the digicam along with me. The former resort is just up the road from Paint Bank, VA, and used to entertain a who’s-who of folks. It fell into bad times when, due to lack of railroad service, and the Great Depression, people quit going to it. It became a state owned property, housing at various times a sanatorium, an old folks home, and a drug rehabilitation center. It closed for good in the 1990’s, and was sold off. A second sale resulted in the promise of restoring it to it’s former glory, but it hasn’t come to pass.

Good old Southern architecture.

If we all saw the world the same no one would need a camera.

An interesting history lesson. Bet the place will look even more scenic in the fall.
