135mm Sonnar

Long time no see! I've been out of sorts lately, 'cause they had to take out part on my bladder and clear some sort of obstruction. That taken care of, I started fooling around with a 135/F4 Sonnar, the Amedeo adapter, and the M8. With a really paper thin depth of field, I really did miss the accurate RF of the Contax, or at least the high magnification one in a Barnack, but I think this combo is doable...

BTW, is there something wrong with Flickr, or is it the Chavista guvmmint at work again? I can't access it!

I haven't noticed any problems at Flickr, but then the day is young. Good results with the 135, Santiago. You hit the focus point very good.

Hope they're done taking out bits and pieces. That could get old very quickly. Heal up fast.

Thanks a lot, PFM! The Flickr thing is indeed a chavezlandia thing, I can access it through a web proxy.

Nice photos, but more importantly I hope that you are doing well. I also hope that "they" want nothing else out of you for a very long time. (I am curiously wistful about the bits of mine that the medicos deemed removable.)

Nice family photos Santiago, I really enjoy them.
Please take care of yourself and I hope everything went well with your medical problems, I went through the same and all turned out well.
My best wishes to you.

Thank you kindly, my friends. Everything went well, and now I am on the mend. If "they" ever want to tear me open again, I'll get a zipper installed. Much better than the cut-and-staple they've been using!

Yours looks like a West German 135/4 Sonnar? The focus looks good on your M8.

I've been using a pre-war CZJ 13.5cm F4 Sonnar, use a 1.25x magnifier which helps. I also dropped some "big bucks" on the Nikkor version of the lens, a collector's piece as not many made before being replaced by the F3.5 version of the lens. I will be comparing the two.

Yes, this is an East German one. I also use a West German one, but it is too heavy, even if more contrasty.

I've been trying to snipe a cheap magnifier for ages, but they never seem to go for a reasonable amount. In fact, I am concocting a home grown one.

I thought the East german Sonnars kept the "Jena" throughout production; the West German lenses dropped the "Opton" and went with "Carl Zeiss".

I use one of the Chinese magnifiers, found for ~$100. As good as the Leica 1.25x magnifier- which I also have. The latter, I got at a great price.

Of course you're right, Brian! I switched East and West in my post. That is the Westy, LOL.
