The village of Nace stands alongside the NS Shenandoah division mainline in Botetourt County, VA. There’s not much to the place, with only about half a dozen structures in the immediate area. An abandoned general store is the most interesting of these.

The monochrome setting looks better than converting a color shot in PSE10.

Front shot. The locals say the floors are collapsing, so no one has been in the place in years.

A housing unit was added at one time in back, likely for the owners to stay in.

Anything bigger than a catalog, you’ll have to drive in to Troutville to fetch.

Interesting place, especially that store. Why that lone chimney was built there?
The post office looks like a permanent census of residents.

Re: Nace, VA
Whenever I find one of these chimneys, Julio, I document it, and put it in my "Burnt Chimney" album (https://www.flickr.com/photos/7699588@N ... 777877738/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) on Flickr. They are the sad remains of a structure fire, and the namesake of a small town in Virginia on Rt-122.Julio1fer wrote:Interesting place, especially that store. Why that lone chimney was built there?

Really like these PF, especially the general store. A shame the place is being let to degrade, but the economy of an area like that doesn't leave a lot of money left over for maintenance of non-productive property I guess.
