One of the advantages, Nolan says in the article, is the ability to shoot in nearly any location without the need for what he calls the digital "video village" of support, which includes a tremendous amount of electricity, cables and equipment.
The director says film is being unfairly depicted as an outmoded technology. In the interview, he said he sees film as an art form that should be appreciated.
Oddly enough, the author of the article says that filmmakers who work in digital are being asked to make a print on 35mm film, because there is no such thing as a permanent digital archive. Young digital filmmakers, the author writes, largely aren't showing any concern for the longevity of their movies, assuming that if it's available on Vimeo or another online source, it will be available forever.
