When small just will not do.......

With interchangeable lenses and larger sensors, these two popular camera styles appeal to the professional in all of us.

When small just will not do.......

Post by Martolod »

i have toying with the idea of using my Pentax 67 Takumars on my P645 for some time....but why not go the whole hog and try it on 35mm/DSLR
so after digging out the P67 to P645 to PK adapters,Tak 67 45mm and hanging it on my (now vintage) Pentax *ist.......aperture priority, iso800/400, f 3.5...ie wide open . i was pleasantly surprised. this combination has some promise. something i will have to explore a bit further . actually i could get addicted to this combination. here are some of the test shots ,a very unco-operative tortie called Jaffa and my roses out the front yard
all taken hand held with natural light. the levels have been slightly tweaked in post processing as they were just a little under exposed but other than that they are RAW straight out of the camera. none of these shots are cropped.

I was going to say why bother trying those klutzy adaptations...then I saw the pictures...those flowers look wonderful!

So, DSLRs are good for something after all!

Martolod,

You certainly have the ability to isolate the subject with that combo. Good bokeh too. One thing that occasionally makes me envy the 4/3 cameras is the ability to buy adaptors that will take just about every lens I own.

Hope to see more pictures.

Have you had any trouble focusing? After I move from a regular SLR to one with an APC-C sensor, it always seems the viewfinder is almost too small.

Great results. I have just bought an AI Micro-Nikkor 55mm/2.8 for my Oly EM-5 with M4/3-Nikon adapter. We are currently reshaping the whole garden, so no flowers at hand to test shoot and a bit busy right now to wander out and shoot flowers elsewhere. But I can't wait to try out the set, as well as some of my other MF Nikkors.

nah, no trouble focussing, just got to remember to switch over from auto to manual :D
and if i wanted to i could always use the live view and focus using the screen. but i never have found the viewfinder to small.never ccurred to me actually...i move and shuffle around until i get what i want in the viewfinder.....

I was just looking at these again, and one thought occurred to me.

These look more like film than digital. Maybe it's simply because these are older film lenses that they give that look.

Maybe it's because these lenses don't have the high contrast that you get with modern lenses. Of course, that means that I'm guessing that these are older lenses. I guess they would be if they're Takumars, rather than Pentax-branded.

i had not really noticed the 'film' look until you pointed it out..... :o
the lens is the asahi takumar 45mm 6x7 lens. a beast in it's own right.
i migh do some more testing this week end and compare the K3 against the K100 super (now there is a dark horse of a camera.....i keeps on surprising me with it's capability)
