I’m sure everyone in Giles County breathed a huge collective sigh of relief when this bridge was shut down, and it’s replacement opened up.

Two very interesting subjects, the church and the bridge. The red door alone would be an outstanding subject.

That zipper in the bridge - is it for thermal expansion?

Yes, Julio. The new bridge being solid concrete needs them at the pier joints.

I would have liked to have gotten some closer shots of the church, but when you're a stranger in town, it's not good to go tramping onto someones private property.

Some new information on the bridges. The original bridge was opened in 1916, and closed in 1996 when the new bridge was opened. The two eastern spans are gone, and the approach to the western end has a curve in it.
