My bride didn't want to be photographed. She called me "pesty".

My dog Parsley didn't want to be photographed.

Fortunately, Phoebe, asleep on the bed, didn't mind.



This is a 30-year old Nikkor 50mm/1.8 AIS on my D700, at f/2.8. It always was a good, sharp lens. The image is cropped to about 25 percent of total area. My old Nikkors hold up well on the full-frame digital camera.

Phoebe is a cutie! I usually don't have as much luck with cats, mostly just a twitch of the tail and I'm stuck with a parting butt shot. More to the subject, I took this on one of my downtown walks last summer. I don't remember which camera it was, either my F100 with the usual mid zoom or the F with the 50mm 1.4, most likely on Fuji 400 color.

Going back away to my film days, here's a cooperative subject charging his muzzle-loading rifle:

I've always gotten good results from my 50mm/1.8 AIS Nikkor, and it is one of the smallest, lightest lenses that I own.

She was just about as cooperative as she could get............until I invited her to come and see my etchings, but the response was cold.......

A friend in Piedralaves, Spain. He came to greet me along the trail I was walking.

I've been shooting a little lately, but it's been largely curtailed by an injured foot, which has put a damper on pursuits that require much walking or standing. It continues to improve so I've been shooting a little more, but what I really want to do is get back to film now that I can even think about standing at the sink developing.

In the meanwhile, here is one of my cooperative subjects, my very patient wife, who was kind enough to treat me to a nice birthday dinner recently. I'm very pleased with how this one came out, both because she was trying unbidden not to give me the "standard photo smile" and because we were both genuinely happy that evening.

Fortunately for me, she is nearly always cooperative when the camera comes out, and in tolerating my various other hobbies as well.
