A rainy weekend but the Spotmatic took it in a stride in Montevideo harbor.

That 35mm Takumar is a heck of a lens.

Black and white was perfect for the mood of the photos; it reflected the weather! I also will be watching the blog for more...

I missed the GrafSpee anchor at the Montevideo Harbor, even though I was asking about the famous boat to a lot of people at the Buquebus....

I really liked these, especially in B/W. I also like the way the Graf Spee anchor exhibit illustrates the ship in brick; it is a very nice touch.

Thanks for the comments! The weather was perfect for B&W but it rained lightly, so it was a bit tricky keeping the camera and lens dry.

Titrisol, next time you come here you must give me a call. The Buquebus terminal is only 50 m from the anchor. Just next to the anchor is a giant RF recovered from the Graf Spee wreck. If you like wide base RFs this one may be just right - it has a modest 11 m (36 ft) base distance. Not really a pocketable item.

I wonder how that helm of the Calvo Sotelo came to Montevideo. The gunboat was being built in Spain when the civil war started in 1936. The rebels sized the boat and changed its name to "Calvo Sotelo" - the right-wing political leader whose murder triggered the war. The gunboat seems to have been shelved in the 1950s.
