Found this on Reddit and thought I'd share.

Color photos of 1928 England.

Thanks for sharing that. I love autochromes in general, and these are quite nice. I found some magic lantern slides at a photo show that were similar, although not Autochrome. Mark Osterman of the Eastman House told me what they were, but I'm afraid I've forgotten already. Thought I'd written it down, but apparently not -- I need to dig it up again.

Autochromes have a random array of colour dots (made from dyed starch-grains). These two look like one of the plate types with a printed, regular-array colour screen, maybe Paget or Dufay. I love both the rich colours of Autochromes, and the more restrained colours of the others.

That set of Autochromes is great. As a Brit, I'm glad we no longer dress up as parts of the Empire on special occasions! I don't think I have the figure for knitted armour.

These peeks into the past are very interesting and to see them in color adds some real interest to them.

We see so many black and white photos of the past that we begin to get this impression that life in those days was drab and colorless.
