Went to the local camera store to buy fixer and...

Post by Captain Slack »

...ended up coming home with this, as well!

I think we can all agree, the camera store is a dangerous place!! :D

Been wanting to get a TLR for awhile and this one was only $75! It's in great condition and even came with the 35mm film adapter!

Once I got it home and started cleaning the glass, I figured out why it was so cheap: at some point it must have gotten dropped and it's VF housing is damaged. Both the screws on one side are missing and there's a crack along the left hand, bottom corner. The screw heads on the right side must have popped off on impact, cause the screws themselves are still in the holes. Oh, well. Nothing a little electrical tape or JB Weld won't fix.

Also found a completely exposed roll of film inside! Have to develop that along with the test roll I plan to run through it this weekend.

Look forward to seeing the found film, in addition to the work you do with the new toy.

I do, too, (albeit not that close) but I wonder how long that will last.

If you can't fix it with a hammer... you got an electrical problem
even duct tape can't fix stupid.... but it can muffle it (SilentObserver)

That's some screwy web site they have. 46 digital cameras listed, yet when you click the link, it says "No Items In This Category". And the film cameras and lenses are both at zero, so you must have cleaned them out, Nathan.

The only camera store we have in town is really just one corner of a large electronics seller, and all they handle is digital gear. The closest store to me is about 50 miles away, and it's mainly unserviced garage sale finds at retail prices. Or I can drive 100 miles up to Charlottesville, where it's kind of hit-or-miss on whether or not the item you are looking at will actually work correctly, even though the owner is a camera repairman.
