How in the world does Flickr obtain photos from my computer?
I was just now going thru some things on my Flickr account and found a bunch photos there that I did not upload to my account, some just days old that I took at a birthday party?
And there are many more that is old stuff that has no reason to be there.
May just cancel my membership??

Are you using the latest Uploader, Ron? It's designed to search your computer for images, and automatically upload them. Or you could have something else set to upload images automatically to Flickr.

I don't know, Ron. I'd think there would have to be some sort of setting where you can turn that feature off. You might look in the Help forums to see if there is some info where others have dealt with the same issue.

I just went in and deleted Flickr link off my hard drive, hope it settles the problem? Think I have the feature shutdown?
Thanks Phil

I never adopted the Uploadr. I suppose a lot of people with phone cameras might want every picture (of their lunch

) uploaded, but I couldn't live with that. Apart from the privacy aspect, my computer still has thousands of photos of experiments, from my previous life in university, and I don't think it would ever finish loading them all. Certainly, there should be an obvious way to switch off that function.
I think if you had Flickr
on your hard drive, that can only have been the Uploadr.

I keep the old uploader, works fine only when I want it
There is an auto-upload feature in the settings that you can switch on/off
But the best is to use the staartup manager and prevent the flickr uploader to start automatically

Deleting the link isn't going to do anything except make you type in the address every time you want to connect to Flickr, Ron.
BTW, I'm still using the Uploader from 2009, when I first started using Flickr. Can't see any good reason to switch. Check to see if you still have an older version of the Uploader on your computer, Ron, and use that one instead.

I still use the web based loader. It works fine for the amount of pictures I post.

Well I deleted all my albums on Flickr, now all I have is 'Photostream'. Got rid of the Flickr downloader and back to basics again. All is well!
Just a test.
