Burton Prong in Fog

We were in Delaware last week for a change of venue. Had some crazy foggy mornings and evenings, combination of strangely warm days and massive snow melt (there was a storm in our are a week or so before that dumped over 20" of snow in less than a day). Took the dogs out for a walk one morning ...

Re: Super Wester Rehab Questions...

Well, the two pieces you have were definitely one piece when manufactured. That spring resides on the drive and looks like one end is hooked into a post while the other end just rides against a lever with the hooked end providing an anchor point to create the tension needed to return whatever lever...

Re: Letchworth Park gelatin dry plate workshop report

Wow. Just wow. What a wonderful experience. Happy that you got the opportunity, and validation, that you deserved. And "ways of capturing time rather than stopping it" is about the best thing I've heard about photography, large format in particular., Imma steal that one, sorry. What a beau...

Re: Film making, sort of

I'm pretty sure the old Maco IR stuff was on acetate. That stuff was (and is - I still have some) a HUGE PITA. But never say never. I'll keep my fingers crossed. The MacGuyver aspect of your project is fantastic, though. My daughter has an ME degree from Lafayette, but (indictment of higher educatio...

Re: Film making, sort of

The acetate base off the roll looks about right for slitting to ~4x5. When y'all get the RM-1925 working, I'd be interested in testing it on 4x5 for ya... ;)

Seriously, very cool project. Legit engineering (chemical and mechanical). Appreciate the sharing. Good job.,

Re: Scott does Bolsey rehab (WAS: Oops...)

Back to the Model B (and the C, as far as that goes): The shutter is so close to working. The shutter blades don't close, but are trying. Looks like this is what's happening: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/55111630177_9708bc5e80_b.jpg The end of that lever is, in fact, hanging up on the blade r...

Re: Scott does Bolsey rehab (WAS: Oops...)

Well, Scott, I'm not sure what the speeds are actually like, but they seemed to vary while I dry fired it. That was without trying to use the Set-O-Matic system. I'm sure you'll figure it out. PF Yeah - you're definitely right, the speeds are changing with setting. Fast speeds looks slow, but I'm n...

PF Sounds good, PF. I'll keep messing with it - it's a kitschy system, but the camera is so damned adorabl...

Re: Scott does Bolsey rehab (WAS: Oops...)

I've renamed this thread and am kind of pivoting because I'm apparently going to become a Bolsey enthusiast. Will just add my hypomanic thoughts in one thread in case anyone's bored. I'm calling shenanigans on the Model C. The list of issues is growing, and while not insurmountable, isn't something ...

Re: Oops...

Well, cleaning went realty well. My little sonicator does thee minute cycles. Filled with water, put the shutter in a short Ball jar, covered with naphtha, and ran four consecutive cycles. Removed a TON of, well, gunk. Dumped, refilled, repeated. Did this three times. Shutter looked 100x better - cl...
