Domiplan 2.8/50 opening

Post by alexvaras »

Hello,

I would like to start and clean this lens:

So far I have a wrench spanner and the usual set for cleaning the lens from the outside, microfibre cloth, the spray, blower and the dust removal.

What else do I need:
Slotted screwdrivers? Size? 0.8 mm, 0.9 mm
That rubber things to take the front spiral?

eBay? anyone from Moscow? )

Thanks :)

I think that you can use a wide rubber plug to remove the front part of the lens. What works well are the rubber caps for a crutch or a cane. You might be able to find them at a drugstore.

Be careful when disassembling the lens and aperture ring, as there should be small ball bearings that make the aperture "click."

I probably would try to go in from the front. Remove the front face of the ring, and the rest of it should unscrew easily.

I think.

Not familiar with the lens. From your picture it seems that the dirt / damage is in the front element, so I would start from the front as MIke said. Good luck.

There are several videos in Youtube about disassembling the Domiplan but in M42 version; probably the aperture mechanics are somewhat different for the Exakta version.

Mr. Subbarayan_Prasanna in photo.net has many posts on cleaning / repairing Exakta lenses and cameras, you may check with him.

thanks for the tips Julio and Mike.

I tried as the videos about the M42 but the outer ring its not just 'pop' with an screwdriver, I will look for the rubber thing and take a look in photo.net.

That looks clean! Now, to test it!

And then you will find the Exa limitations and need an Exakta body....

I already found it when focusing with it, I see the object to focus at around 6-7 meters and the focusing ring says its 1.5 meters.
Or maybe I put one lens wrong XD

Did you collimate the lens? I'm going to redo my instructions, but you should reset/confirm infinity focus after you work on a lens.

Maybe you also put one of the elements in backward. I've done that before.

No need to collimate it I think, I just took out the front two lenses, the moving one at focusing is the read one, which I didn't take out. Also I checked on the net how the domiplan lens design is and I did it right...

I will take a look again...
