What Alex is alluding to is that even though the parts may not be an exact match, the basic operations are the same, so the Vero parts and actions will work similar to an NKK shutter even if they don't look the same. You still need a B lever to trip the shutter, and a drive to charge the shutter, and a holding lever to keep the shutter open until the escapement runs down. Whatever other levers are in there they are mainly to transfer the action from one place to another and are formed at the whim of the designer who can either create an exact copy of a different shutter or make the parts unique to the design.

So, finally got enough time and focus to mess with this. Pulled things apart, did not send the mainspring acoss the room. Tried to figure out where the tiny little spring went for about ten minutes. Not long enough to catch the spot that it was clearly intended to catch. Started moving things around, found this:

The bit on the left is the new piece; the other is what I had found last time I was messing with it. The two pieces, being the same gauge, seem clearly to be intended to be joined. So, I see this as a fatal problem. I have not the materials, the tools, or the skill to fabricate this. No idea how these are intended to be joined. I'm thinking, at this point, the best available option is to troll for some kind of shutter that would be close enough (Prontor) that I could scrounge a compatible enough spring, or could replace the shutter outright.

Drat. Sometimes you get the bear, sometimes...

Alright. Calling it. I'm not fixing this. I don't have time, patience, or skillset to rreplace the broken spring in this, and it's time for it to go. Andyone here interested in this for repair or for parts, let me know. Yours for shipping. Everything was working perfectly, then the spring let go. Never got to put film through it. Drat.

So, if one of y'all want it, I'll ship it. Otherwise, landfill fodder.

Well, the two pieces you have were definitely one piece when manufactured. That spring resides on the drive and looks like one end is hooked into a post while the other end just rides against a lever with the hooked end providing an anchor point to create the tension needed to return whatever lever the other end was controlling. Looks like that first part got mangled when it broke loose.

I've heard of folks welding them back together using a nine-volt battery for a power source. I'd be willing to give it a try someday. I believe you have my address from the calendar mailing. I can PayPal you the postage.
