I found this film twice. First when I pulled it out of a junk store camera, and second when I was cleaning up around here before the holidays. It was Kodak Vericolor II 400, and from the images, appears to have been exposed around forty years ago.
The scans from the lab didn’t come out very good as the negatives were pretty dense. And the only colors remaining were pinks and oranges. So I converted the images into B&W using Photo Shop Elements 10, then I adjusted them some more to get a decent result. The original photos aren’t really all that good to start off, with a bit of shake and focus blur (these examples are only the best ones), and lots of grain. But the subject matter is good, and with a little judicious cropping they turned out decent.
The first one is a composite of the changes made. Upper Left is the original scan. Upper Right is after running it through the Smart Fix. Lower Left is after converting to B&W using the Vivid Landscape filter. And Lower Right is after setting the Lighten Shadows to 0, Darken Highlights to 10, and Contrast to +25. I think. I can’t find the note where I wrote all that down. Anyway, all the rest had similar corrections made to them.
